Get ready For Junk Removal Day

2/15/2021

If you are tired of living with a lot of junk, we understand completely. Things have a tendency to pile up over time. What you thought you might hang onto for the future has now collected dust and is taking up valuable space in your home or office. These things can really range from simple magazines, trinkets, and pieces of equipment or furniture. When you have come to the decision to clear out this unwanted stuff, you should probably do a bit of organizing first. Just to avoid stress and get the most out of your scheduled junk removal appointment.

We want to provide you a few recommendations and tips that will help the process overall for you

.

1. Create a List of what you want to Dispose of.
When you call to enquire about junk removal, you will be asked to describe what you need removed. This is because quotes are based on the volume of items and will also indicate the size of truck required to remove the items. A list will come in handy when you make that call.

2. Determine if you should sell any items.
What is junk to you, may be someone else’s treasure. There are collectors out there that do pay for certain items, such as brass fixtures, antiques, trinkets, and jewelry. You can get things appraised so that you know their re-sale value. And if you are up to it, you can list these items for sale. Who knows, you may have something rare and valuable, hidden within your clutter.

3. Sort Your Items
Start by getting 3 bins or boxes. One will be the items that you want to keep. One will be for donation items. And the other will be for what should be thrown out. Be very honest about what you are wanting to keep or donate. Does it still work or have any value to someone else? If not, toss it. This can be very taxing on individuals who assign value to items of a sentimental nature. You don’t have to toss anything you are not ready to. You can pack up items and store them away. You may be in a better position later to let those kind of items go. Just indicate on the bin or box that these are sentimental items and tuck them away for now.

4. Work on one room at a time.
People can get overwhelmed and distracted by trying to tackle more than one space at a time. Work through one area at a time. Get into the closets, cabinets, and shelves. Using your bins, keep sorting through items. When you have finished that area, do a trip to a donation centre and get the items to donate out of the way. Move the bin with the items to toss out to the garage or another designated area. And organize your items you are keeping back into the space. You will be amazed at how much better you will feel when you can see what your hard work has accomplished in this area alone. Then, when you are ready, move onto another area and do it again.

5. Get rid of unopened items that have been stored for a long period.
By a long period, we recommend anything over a year. If you have not opened a bin or box, you may want to consider not opening it and simply disposing of it. This does not include any sentimental items. These would be items that you thought you would use but haven’t unpack. These items tend to travel with us from one move to another. If you haven’t unpacked them in a year, chances are you have either replaced the item or have outgrown the item anyways. Just move the box or bin out to the designated area for removal.

6. Call Us to Schedule a Pick Up Time
Now that you have worked your way through the rooms and areas that you want to tackle, you should be ready to give us a call. Using the list that you have made about specific items and the bins or boxes of waste you have sorted, you can give us that information and we can work out a quote for your appointment. You can also take a picture of the items collected and send that to us as well. From this information, we will arrange for a truck to come and collect these items and load them onto our truck. We do the heavy lifting so you do not have to.

7. Enjoy your Decluttered Space
The hard work is over now and you can enjoy your new space! Maybe you have plans to renovate or order new furnishings. It can be a real “start over” for you and it will have an impact on your state of mind and wellbeing. Everyone deserves to feel good about where they live or work. And now you will have skills to draw on in the future when you want to clear out any clutter that comes along! Plus, you can always count on us to give you a helping hand in the future as well!
